The simple, non-invasive, outpatient procedure with the balloon being inserted endoscopically and a procedure time of 10 -15 minutes. The patient can be discharged on the same day in most cases. Most post-procedure effects are short-lived and can be managed with good pre and post-procedure medications. The patient is advised to have a liquid diet for a few weeks, followed by a monitored diet regimen. The IGB can be left in the stomach between 6-12 months, depending on the type of balloon used, with periodic weight loss monitoring as an outpatient by the Multidisciplinary Team at the Healthy Weight Clinic in India.
