In this video, Dr. Balaji Laxminarayanshetty, Consultant – Medical Gastroenterology at Manipal Hospital Whitefield, explains how Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is used to diagnose and treat problems in the bile and pancreatic ducts. With the help of an endoscope and X-ray, doctors can access these ducts through the small intestine and treat conditions such as: *Bile duct stones that slip from the gallbladder. *Narrowed bile ducts (strictures) causing jaundice. *Leaks or blockages in the pancreatic ducts. During the procedure, stones can be removed, and stents may be placed to keep the ducts open and working properly. In some cases, biopsies are taken to check for further issues. ERCP offers direct, minimally invasive relief for many digestive problems.
