Intrauterine Insemination

IUI treatment in Hebbal, Bangalore

IUI treatment in Hebbal, Bangalore is a fertility procedure in which sperm is inserted directly into the uterus. This is done using a thin, flexible catheter passed through the cervix into the uterus. IUI is often used in cases of male factor infertility when there are issues with the quality or quantity of sperm. It can also be used in cases of unexplained infertility or when the woman has endometriosis. IUI is less invasive and expensive than other fertility treatments, such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF). IUI can be performed with or without fertility drugs. If fertility drugs are used, the goal is to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. This increases the chances of pregnancy, but it also increases the risk of multiple births. IUI is typically performed during the woman’s natural cycle, or it can be timed with her ovulation if fertility drugs are used.

Pre-Procedure

PBeforehaving IUI, it is recommended that patients consult with a fertility specialist to discuss the best possible course of treatment. Once a decision is made to proceed with IUI, patients can do a few things to help ensure the best possible outcome. First, it is essential to have a detailed discussion with the fertility specialist about the medications that will be used during the IUI cycle. Understanding these medications' side effects and ensuring they are comfortable taking them is essential. Additionally, patients should keep all their appointments and follow all the instructions given to them by their fertility specialist. Finally, patients should stay relaxed and positive throughout the entire IUI process.

Procedure

IUI is usually done in the doctor’s office or fertility clinic. The woman will lie on her back with her legs in stirrups. A speculum will be inserted into the vagina to hold it open. The catheter is then passed through the cervix into the uterus. Once the catheter is in place, the doctor will release the sperm into the uterus.

The woman will then be asked to remain lying down for 10-15 minutes to give the sperm time to travel into the Fallopian tubes. IUI is usually done using a trigger shot of HCG to time the insemination with ovulation. The IUI procedure is quick and painless.

A speculum is inserted into the vagina, and a catheter is passed through the cervix into the uterus. The sperm is then injected through the catheter, and the catheter is removed. IUI can be done with or without fertility drugs. If fertility drugs are used, they are typically started about two weeks before the IUI procedure.

The most common drugs are clomiphene citrate (Clomid) or letrozole (Femara). These drugs help to stimulate ovulation. IUI is usually done one to three times per cycle. The success rate for IUI is about 10-20% per cycle, and the success rate is slightly higher if fertility drugs are used. If you are having trouble getting pregnant, you may want to consider IUI. IUI is a safe and effective treatment for infertility.

Post-Procedure

After the IUI procedure is completed, the patient will be asked to remain in the office for a brief period so that the staff can monitor her for any side effects. Once the patient is released, she will be instructed to take it easy for the rest of the day and to avoid strenuous activity. She may also be recommended to use a home pregnancy test kit a few days after the procedure to check for pregnancy. Consult with a team of experts at Manipal Hospitals now.
