ICSI Treatment in Hebbal, Bangalore

ICSI Treatment in Hebbal, Bangalore is a fertility treatment that involves injecting a single sperm directly into an egg. ICSI is used when there is a problem with the sperm's ability to fertilise the egg. This can be due to a low sperm count, poor sperm motility, or abnormal sperm morphology. ICSI is typically performed in conjunction with in vitro fertilisation (IVF). During IVF, eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and fertilised with sperm in a laboratory. With ICSI, a single sperm is injected into each egg. The eggs are then incubated overnight and checked the following day to see if fertilisation has occurred. If fertilisation is successful, the embryos are then transferred to the uterus. ICSI has a higher success rate than traditional IVF, but is also more expensive. ICSI is usually only recommended if there are problems with sperm quality or quantity.

Pre-Procedure

Several steps must be completed before ICSI can be performed. First, the woman must undergo ovarian stimulation, usually with injectable hormones. Once the eggs have matured, they are retrieved from the ovaries through a minor surgical procedure. The eggs are then fertilised in the laboratory using sperm from the woman's partner or a donor. In ICSI, a single sperm is injected into each egg, and the eggs are then incubated overnight. On the day of the procedure, the woman is given medication to help her relax. She is then placed under a microscope, and a tiny needle is used to inject a single sperm into each egg. The eggs are then incubated for another 24-48 hours (about two days).

Procedure

The ICSI procedure is typically performed during an IVF cycle. First, eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and fertilised with sperm in a lab. Then, a single sperm is injected into each egg using a fine needle. The eggs are then incubated overnight to allow fertilisation to occur. The following day, the fertilised eggs (embryos) are transferred to the womb. Pregnancy rates with ICSI are like those of IVF, and the chance of having a baby is about 30-35% per cycle. ICSI is a safe and effective fertility treatment, but also expensive. If you are considering ICSI, you should speak with a fertility specialist to discuss your options and to find out if it is right for you.

Post-Procedure

After the ICSI procedure is completed, the patient will be closely monitored. A pregnancy test will be performed two weeks after the procedure. If the test is positive, the patient will be seen by a fertility specialist for an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy. The patient will then be seen by their obstetrician or gynaecologist for ongoing care. Book an appointment at Manipal Hospitals now.
