Treatment for Adult and Paediatric Acne

Acne treatment in Hebbal, Bangalore reduce sebum production, cure bacterial infections, and decrease swelling. Results from the majority of prescription acne medications might take four to eight weeks to appear, and your acne may not clear up for several months or even years. Depending on your age, your doctor will propose a treatment plan. More and more young kids are developing acne. See a paediatric dermatologist if your youngster develops acne.

Topical Medications

The most often used prescribed topical acne treatments are,

  • Retinoids and retinoid-like medications: Medications containing retinoic acids or tretinoin are often helpful for mild acne. These are offered as lotions, gels, and creams. Tretinoin, adapalene (Differin), and tazarotene are examples. The sun sensitivity of your skin is increased with topical retinoids.

  • Salicylic acid and Azelaic acid: Yeast produces a naturally occurring substance called azelaic acid. When used twice daily, a 20% azelaic acid cream or gel seems to be as effective as several common acne treatments. You may get azelaic acid (Azelex, Finacea) on your prescription if you're pregnant or nursing. Salicylic acid, available in wash-off and leave-on formulations, may help prevent blocked hair follicles.

  • Dapsone: For inflammatory acne, particularly in women with acne, dapsone (Aczone) 5% gel is advised twice daily. Redness and dryness are side effects.

Oral Medications

  • Antibiotics: Oral antibiotics may be necessary to decrease bacteria in cases with moderate to severe acne. Tetracyclines or macrolides are often first-line medications for treating acne. A macrolide may be an alternative for pregnant women and children under eight.

  • Anti-androgen medications: If oral antibiotics are ineffective, women and teenage girls may use spironolactone medication (Aldactone).

  • Isotretinoin: Among other medications, isotretinoin (Amnesteem, Claravis) is a vitamin A derivative. It could be given if previous treatments haven't worked for someone's moderate or severe acne.

Therapies

The following treatments, either by themselves or in combination with medicines, could benefit some individuals.

  • Steroid injection: A steroid medication may be injected directly into nodular and cystic lesions to treat them.

  • Light therapy.

  • Chemical peel.

  • Drainage and extraction.

Treatment for Eczema and Psoriasis

It is preferable to see a dermatologist immediately if you have itchy, red areas on any region of your body that do not go away with over-the-counter treatments. Psoriasis and eczema may display in each individual quite differently, and Eczema and psoriasis have similar treatments. Following are a few examples of common treatments,

  • Over-the-counter relief: Many medicines help with symptom relief or infection prevention.

  • Topicals: These are medicines you use for damaged skin as directed by your doctor.

  • Phototherapy: A machine that produces UVB light is used in phototherapy, sometimes referred to as light therapy. You will only be exposed to a safe, regulated dose of UVB light during phototherapy.

  • Biologics: These medicines aim at the protein that triggers your body's inflammatory reaction. They are often administered intravenously (IV) or by injection.

  • Systemics: These oral drugs modulate inflammation and immune system response.
