Manipal Hospitals Old Airport Road welcomes you to the bariatric surgery/weight loss surgery speciality. Our esteemed team of bariatric surgeons in Bangalore collaborate closely with specialists from various disciplines to provide comprehensive care to our patients who are suffering from morbid obesity and its associated complications. With state-of-the-art real-time imaging technology and advanced surgical equipment, our surgical team is well-equipped to perform all types of bariatric procedures with utmost precision and effectiveness. In line with our commitment to patient well-being, we prioritise minimally invasive surgery as a common approach for weight loss surgery in Bangalore. Bariatric surgery, also known as weight loss surgery, is a surgical intervention aimed at modifying the digestive system to achieve significant weight loss or prevent further weight gain. We consider this option only when excessive weight and weight gain substantially threaten the patient's health. Our range of interventional treatments includes: Gastric Bypass This procedure involves dividing the stomach pouch into two and connecting the lower end of the divided small intestine to the first part of the stomach pouch. The smaller stomach pouch reduces appetite and capacity to eat, leading to remarkable weight loss. It is a transformative procedure for individuals struggling with chronic weight gain. Patients are advised to follow specific dietary restrictions post-surgery due to altered digestive functions. Sleeve Gastrectomy This surgical technique involves removing a portion of the stomach, reducing its size and capacity. The procedure restricts the amount of food that can be consumed, promoting weight loss. Adjustable Gastric Band A silicone band is placed around the upper part of the stomach to create a smaller pouch, controlling food intake and aiding in weight loss. The band's tightness can be adjusted to adapt to the patient's needs. Considering bariatric surgery is crucial for individuals who face increased risks of obesity-related diseases, such as coronary artery disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. A healthy weight, typically defined by a body mass index (BMI) between 18.5 and 24.9, significantly improves overall well-being. If you are seeking bariatric surgery, we encourage you to visit our specialised bariatric surgery hospital in Bangalore. Our experienced team is committed to providing exceptional care and guiding you toward a healthier, happier life.
