Nebulisation in Yeshawanthpur

What are Nebulisers?

You can breathe medication into your lungs by inhaling it through a nebuliser.

The nebuliser can be used at home (tabletop) or on the go. Unlike hospital nebulizers, home nebulisers have to be plugged into an electrical outlet. You can plug portable nebulisers into a car outlet or run them on batteries. The smaller ones can be carried in a bag or briefcase since they aren't much larger than a deck of cards.

Nebulisation in Yeshawanthpur, Bangalore are available at your paediatrician's office or with a prescription from your doctor. In addition to breathing treatments, many people get them at their doctors' offices.

The cost of a home nebuliser starts at about $50, plus the cost of accessories. It is usually more expensive to buy a portable nebulizer.

Types of nebulisers

There are several types of nebulisers. Generally, nebulisers fall into three categories,

  • The Jet

A small amount of medication is sprayed into the air using compressed gas.

  • The Ultrasonic Method

In this process, high-frequency vibrations create an aerosol. When using a jet nebuliser, the particles are more prominent.

  • Mesh

A fine mesh is used to form aerosols by passing the liquid through it. This type of nebuliser produces the smallest particles. Aside from being the most expensive, it is also the most complicated.

Make sure you and your child are using an appropriate mouthpiece or mask. Since children under 5 breathe more through their noses than older children or adults, face masks that fit over their noses and mouths are often more suitable for them.

What is the most effective way to use a Nebuliser?

You will need the following supplies before you begin,

  • Compressors

  • Cup for nebulisers

  • Mouthpiece or mask

  • (Bottles with a measuring device or unit dose vials)

  • Tubes for compressors

Following are the steps you need to take,

  • A flat, sturdy surface is ideal for placing the air compressor. An electrical outlet with three prongs should be grounded.

  • Ensure your hands are dried after washing them with soap and water.

  • Nebuliser cups should be filled with medication. The majority of products come in vials with pre-measured doses. Each drug should be measured separately with a clean measuring device.

  • Make sure the mask or mouthpiece is attached to the nebulizer cup.

  • The nebuliser cup and the aerosol compressor should be connected to the tubing.

  • Check that your compressor is working correctly by turning it on. A light mist should come out of the tube at the back.

  • Make sure you are sitting upright in a comfortable chair. It is okay for your child to sit on your lap during treatment if it is helpful to them. Wear your mask if you have one. Comfort and security are the two most significant things. Make sure you seal the lips around the mouthpiece if you use one.

  • Deep breaths should be taken slowly. Please take a deep breath, then hold it for two or three seconds before exhaling. Allow the medication to settle in your lungs this way.

  • The medication should be continued until it has been completely absorbed. A sputtering noise will be heard, and the cup will still have some liquid.

  • If there is dizziness or jitteriness, stop the treatment and rest for about five minutes. Breathe slowly as you continue the treatment. Consult your doctor if you continue to experience problems during treatment.

Shaking the nebuliser cup will loosen medication that sticks to the sides during treatment.

Depending on your condition, your doctor may recommend using the nebuliser more frequently and for extended periods. Getting an asthma action plan that explains when and which medications you should take is also critical.

You don't have to plug it in like a home nebuliser when you use a portable nebuliser. The majority of models are small enough to fit in your hand. Book an appointment to know more about the treatments at Manipal Hospitals.
