Minimal Access Bypass Surgery - Keyhole CABG

Minimal Access Bypass Surgery in Yeshwanthpur

Patients with limited cardiac arteries frequently need surgery to bypass the restricted arteries. This procedure is often conducted through a big breastbone incision. Depending on the number of bypass grafts implanted, most patients refer to this procedure as CABG, "triple bypass," or "quadruple bypass." This is a terrific procedure that makes patients feel better and live longer.

A less intrusive alternative to coronary artery bypass graft surgery is minimal access coronary artery bypass surgery, often known as beating heart surgery. Minimal access bypass surgery can enhance blood flow to the heart without the risks, problems, and need for a heart-lung bypass machine that is associated with standard CABG operation. Types of surgery procedures

Beating heart surgery is conducted while your heart is still beating; no heart-lung bypass equipment is required. Minimal access coronary artery bypass surgery is classified into two types,

  • Minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass (MIDCAB) surgery will not require the assistance of a bypass machine to keep your heart pumping throughout the treatment. In addition, your doctor will make tiny incisions in your chest to obtain access to your coronary arteries, as opposed to a single massive incision in typical CABG surgery. The smaller incisions expose only the regions of the arteries that require grafts rather than the whole heart, as in standard CABG surgery.

  • Off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery (OPCAB) is a form of bypass surgery that uses a smaller incision and no heart-lung bypass equipment. The surgeon will utilise an artery or vein from another part of the body to bypass the blocked vessel and restore normal blood flow during an off-pump coronary artery bypass operation. Patients who undergo OPCAB have less discomfort and a quicker recovery period than those who have standard CABG operations.

Different ways of the surgical procedure

Minimal Access coronary bypass surgery can be performed in several ways,

  • Heart surgery with a robot - A robot will be used by your surgeon to bypass the obstructed vessel. Your surgeon will control the robotic arms from a remote console while seeing the heart on a 3D display.

  • Thoracoscopy procedure - Your surgeon will place a video camera into a chest incision and repair your heart using tools strung via the thoracoscope.

  • In the minimally-invasive procedure, a small incision is made in the chest to reach the obstructed vessel, and your doctor will create a tiny incision between your ribs and your chest.

Procedure

Typically, coronary artery bypass graft operation lasts 3 to 6 hours. However, depending on linked blood vessels, it may take longer. The number of blood vessels utilised will be determined by the severity of your coronary heart disease and the amount of restricted coronary blood vessels if you require two, three, or four grafts. Typically, one of the graft veins is taken from your chest artery.

Your blood may be redirected to a heart-lung bypass machine during the treatment. This replaces your heart and lungs by pumping blood and oxygen throughout your body. While the surgeon connects the new grafts to redirect the blood flow, your heart will be momentarily halted using drugs. Your heart will be restarted using regulated electrical shocks after the grafts have been connected. Book an appointment today for best treatment.
