Overview

  • Dr. Avinash.KM, Spine Surgeon in Yeshwanthpur Bangalore is a senior consultant, Neuro & Spine Surgery and Interventional Neurosurgery(Endovascular neurosurgery) at Manipal Hospitals, and has been consulting at Yeshwanthpur and Hebbal units of Bangalore.

  • Dr. Avinash has completed his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from JJM Medical College, Davangere, and done his MCh in Neurosurgery from the prestigious King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEM Hospital)& Seth GS Medical College, Mumbai, which is a mecca of surgical training in INDIA.

  • The Department of Neurosurgery at KEM hospital is one of the pioneering institutes in India and is the only department in India to have WFNS (World Federation of Neurological Surgery) accredited training for SKULL BASE SURGERY. Having completed his training in general Micro-Neurosurgery and Skull base Surgery, Dr. Avinash went on to do sub-superspecialization training in Interventional Neurosurgery (Endovascular Neurosurgery) at University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland for one year.

  • He also completed training in Endoscopic and Minimally Invasive Neuro and Spine surgery at University Hospital Stuttgart Germany. He visited the world-renowned center for vascular neurosurgery in Sapporo, Japan for advanced training in vascular neurosurgery and brain bypass surgeries. He also completed Fellowship Training in Neuro-endoscopy in India. He has worked in Columbia Asia Hospitals for the last 9 years and has done some of the most complex brain and spine surgeries.

  • Dr. Avinash.KM is one of very few neurosurgeons in the world, who performs both open Microvascular and Endovascular Neurosurgery. This dual training allows Dr. Avinash plenty of flexibility in choosing the right course for his patients. This unique skill set allows unbiased treatment options ranging from carotid stenting versus carotid endarterectomy, aneurysm coiling versus clipping, and AVM embolization versus resection.

  • Dr. Avinash has a keen interest in treating ischemic cerebrovascular disease including carotid revascularization, acute stroke interventions, and EC-IC bypass. He believes a combination of open and endovascular means, working synergistically, holds the key to improving outcomes. His dual training in minimally invasive endovascular neurosurgery and traditional open cerebrovascular neurosurgery gives him the unique ability to treat brain and spine blood vessel conditions from either inside or outside the vessel, depending on the best treatment for each patient.
