Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar successfully treated a 52-year-old corporate employee from West Bengal suffering from severe low back pain radiating to both lower limbs through an advanced minimally invasive spine surgery using Unilateral Biportal Endoscopic (UBE) TLIF technology. The patient had been struggling with debilitating pain for a prolonged period, severely affecting his mobility, office duties, and daily routine activities.
Despite undergoing conservative treatment for nearly six months, the patient’s condition continued to deteriorate. The pain became so severe that he could not walk more than five steps or stand for even 10 seconds, eventually becoming completely bedridden and severely affecting both his professional and daily life. Concerned about his worsening condition, he visited Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar seeking a permanent solution. Upon evaluation, the medical team initially attempted further conservative management; however, the patient strongly expressed his desire for a definitive treatment option. Detailed clinical examination and MRI investigations subsequently revealed a massive extruded disc at the L4-L5 level, compressing the nerves and causing severe pain and disability.
