  • Overview

  • Dr. Sagar Bhattad is a highly skilled Paediatric Immunologist and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) specialist in Yelahanka. He is currently practising as the Lead Consultant – Paediatric Immunology, Rheumatology & Bone Marrow Transplant at Manipal Hospital Yelahanka, Bangalore, bringing over years of advanced clinical expertise in treating complex immune disorders, autoimmune diseases, rheumatic conditions, and paediatric bone marrow transplants. Recognised as one of the best paediatric immunologists in Yelahanka, he has pioneered specialised care for children with Primary Immune Deficiency Disorders (PIDs), juvenile arthritis, Kawasaki disease, paediatric lupus, autoinflammatory conditions, and bone marrow failure syndromes through evidence-based clinical practice, compassionate care, and global-standard transplant programs.

  • A trailblazer in his field, Dr. Bhattad is India’s first DM super-specialist in Paediatric Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, trained at the prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. During his academic tenure, he received the Silver Medal in MD Paediatrics and the distinguished Major Gen Amir Chand Gold Medal for his groundbreaking research in pediatric lupus, highlighting his early contributions to clinical immunology. To further enhance his expertise, he trained at Europe’s largest Paediatric Immune Deficiency Transplant Centre, the Great North Children’s Hospital, Newcastle, UK, where he gained hands-on experience in advanced BMT methodologies, immune reconstitution, graft-versus-host disease management, and post-transplant rehabilitation. His global exposure strengthened his capabilities in performing complex bone marrow transplants for immunodeficiency syndromes, leukemias, rheumatic diseases with immune complications, and rare genetic disorders.

  • At Manipal Hospital Yelahanka, Dr. Bhattad established and leads the Centre of Excellence in Paediatric Immunology and Bone Marrow Transplant, which is among the region’s most specialised and trusted centres for childhood immune disorders. He has successfully diagnosed over 600 cases of Primary Immune Deficiency Disorders and performed multiple successful bone marrow transplants, significantly improving survival outcomes and enhancing access to specialized care for children. As one of the best paediatric immunologists in Yelahanka, he is revered by families and colleagues for his thorough clinical judgement, deep understanding of rare diseases, and empathetic approach to children requiring long-term, multidisciplinary medical care.

  • His areas of expertise span a wide spectrum, including Primary Immune Deficiency disorders, paediatric rheumatology, auto-inflammatory diseases, Kawasaki disease, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), juvenile idiopathic arthritis, recurrent infections, periodic fever syndromes, and paediatric transplant immunology. He is also an expert in haploidentical bone marrow transplants, stem cell transplants for genetic immunodeficiencies, post-transplant immune monitoring, and personalised immunomodulatory therapies. His advanced knowledge and precision-based treatment protocols help reduce complications, improve quality of life, and enhance long-term outcomes for children with complex immunological conditions.

  • Dedicated to academic excellence, Dr. Bhattad has authored over 80 peer-reviewed research publications in globally recognised journals such as Journal of Clinical Immunology, Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology, International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases, Indian Pediatrics, and many others. He is the author of the widely acclaimed book “Primary Immune Deficiencies Made Simple”, which has become a valuable guide for paediatricians and residents for clinical diagnosis and early detection of PID cases. His ongoing mission is to increase awareness, improve early diagnosis, and expand access to advanced immunology-based healthcare in India. He continues to mentor young doctors, actively speak at national and international forums, and contribute to clinical guidelines and evolving medical literature.

  • A proud member of elite national and international medical associations, including the European Society of BMT (EBMT), APSID, ISPID, PRSI, and the Indian Rheumatology Association, Dr. Bhattad remains closely aligned with global research and evolving treatment protocols. He is admired for his compassionate consultations, detailed diagnostic clarity, and supportive counselling to families navigating complex treatment decisions for their children.

  • With his vision to develop South India’s most advanced pediatric immunology centre, his clinical excellence, and his strong commitment to delivering compassionate and accessible care, Dr. Sagar Bhattad continues to be one of the best paediatric immunologists in Yelahanka, transforming paediatric care with innovation, dedication, and empathy.
