Overview

A skin abscess is a pocket of pus that occurs below the surface of the skin. The bump is generally full of translucent fluid or pus. It usually occurs because of a bacterial infection. It can appear on any part of the body.

  • The patient is advised to avoid taking a shower for a few days as the site must be kept dry until it has completely healed. Instead, the patient may sponge bathe.
  • The patient is advised to wear loose clothing so that the site of the incision and the dressings do not get disturbed. 
  • In case of bleeding from the site or soakage, the patient is advised to contact the doctor immediately. 
  • There are no dietary restrictions and the patient may perform their routine activities after the procedure.
  • The culture reports will be shared with the patient after three days after the completion of the procedure.
