  • Distress Management: Screening and management of distress as per the NCCN guidelines, attending to referred patients (in-patients and out-patients) for psychiatric and psychological problems like depression, anxiety, PTSD, adjustment disorder, delirium, psychosis and so on; all of which will be managed in collaboration with the psychiatrist and an oncologist.
  • Pre Bone Marrow Transplantation Counselling: Assessing and counselling BMT patients for psychological fitness as a part of pre-BMT evaluation. The counselling session includes evaluating the patient for psychiatric, logistic issues and other psychosocial concerns. These patients were followed up during their BMT procedure.
  • Medication and Treatment adherence: Clinical interviewing that focuses on exploring various psycho-social and logistic issues which contribute to the non-adherence. Intervention for improving treatment adherence among patients including psycho-educating patients and their caregivers regarding the significance of treatment adherence.
  • Pre-operative Counselling: Management of patients with fear towards any form of surgery for cancer and dealing with other psychosocial issues and concerns. Patients undergoing surgical procedures for colostomy, ileostomy and urostomy would be counseled prior to their surgical procedure regarding their post-OP physical conditions like incontinence, quality of life and various other psychosocial concerns. Patients with osteosarcoma posted for amputation, limb salvage surgery and rotation-plasty would be counseled prior to their procedure with regard to psychosocial issues, phantom limb and other concerns.
  • Tobacco cessation counselling:Conducts individual therapy sessions for clients with tobacco usage, to assess for their level of addiction and willingness to quit their tobacco abuse and plan intervention based on these assessments which included Nicotine Replacement Therapy, Psychotherapy and Pharmacological intervention.
