Kavya, a 4-year-old child, was brought to Manipal Hospitals Jaipur to be consulted by the expert doctors at the Centre of Excellence in Cardiac Care. It was identified that Kavya was suffering from a congenital defect of the heart, namely, Bicuspid Aortic Valve and Severe Aortic Stenosis, with Severe Aortic Regurgitation. At the age of 6 months, Kavya had undergone a Balloon Valvotomy, which helped prolong her life. However, Kavya was now in a life-threatening situation and required immediate surgical intervention. In order to treat Kavya, Dr. Vikram Goyal - Cardiac Surgeon at Manipal Hospitals Jaipur, took the decision to perform a valve-replacement surgery on Kavya, to save her life. Dr. Goyal and his team performed the Manouguian S, Seybold Root Enlargement Technique of Surgery. The surgery was technically challenging and highly risky, however, it was a success! Through this surgery, an adult-sized valve was implanted in Kavya's heart, which will now help her lead a better life.
