  • Dr. Subhalakshmi Sengupta is a Consultant Pathologist currently serving in the Department of Pathology at Manipal Hospitals, EM Bypass. She has over 18 years of experience, of which ten years were dedicated to working in clinical and diagnostic pathology. 

  • Dr. Sengupta began her academic journey with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with honours from Nil Ratan Sircar (NRS) Medical College, Kolkata. She then completed her postgraduate MD in Pathology from the renowned Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial Hospital (SSKM) and Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, gaining extensive exposure in Histopathology, Cytology, Haematology, and Clinical Pathology. She also successfully cleared FRCPath Part 1 in Histopathology at the Royal College of Pathologists, London, UK.

  • Throughout her career, Dr. Sengupta has handled a large volume of routine and complex surgical pathology reporting. Her areas of strength include immunohistochemistry interpretation, grossing and cut-up of surgical specimens, gynaec and non-gynaec cytology (Pap smears, liquid-based cytology, cell blocks), solid organ fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) reporting, on-site adequacy assessments, and frozen sections. 

  • She is experienced in bone marrow aspiration and trephine biopsy. She is skilled in interpreting peripheral smears and evaluating haematological malignancies. Her expertise includes comprehensive lab interpretation in multidisciplinary settings. She also specialises in diagnosing and reporting malignant tumours.
