    Meet Mrs. N Lakshmi and her brave little boy Baby Guru Kiran, from Talur, Bellary District, Karnataka, who faced a challenging start in life with congenital airway and breathing issues. The baby was initially treated by inserting a pipe to facilitate breathing through a hole in his throat and referred to Dr. E V Raman, Consultant – Ear, Nose, and Throat at Manipal Hospital Old Airport Road, Bengaluru. Dr. Raman identified a critical blockage in the windpipe and voice box, with occluded vocal cords. With expert precision, he performed a life-changing surgery to expand the vocal cords and airway, giving the baby the chance to breathe and thrive.

    Mr. Sukh Chand Mollah, the father of baby Wajid Mollah, from Mitrapur, Birbhum district, became worried when his newborn started having difficulty breathing associated with noisy breathing sounds one or two weeks after birth. This made the parents feel like their kid was choking. After failing to get satisfactory treatment elsewhere, they brought Wajid to Manipal Hospital Old Airport Road, Bengaluru.
     
    Dr. E V Raman, Consultant - Ear, Nose, and Throat examined the baby and recommended surgery. Dr. Karthik Nagesh, HOD & Consultant - Neonatology, Paediatrics noted that this difficulty is due to abnormal development of the voice box (larynx) and the windpipe. An endoscopic surgery was performed which significantly improved his condition. The baby’s father expresses his gratitude and satisfaction with the treatment received.
