Treatments and Procedures

Posterior and Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (PLIF and TLIF)
Minimally Invasive Decompression for Spinal Stenosis
Spinal Osteotomies
Vertebral Body Resection
Discectomy
Spinal Stabilisation (Open & Minimally Invasive)
Paediatric Spinal Surgeries
Surgery for Spinal Tumors
Disc Replacement
Spinal Column Reconstruction
These are two different spinal fusion surgical procedures. PLIF is a conventional spine surgery involving two small bone graft spacers, whereas TLIF is an advanced procedure involving only one bone graft spacer. The choice between the PLIF and TLIF depends on the specific pathology and the patient’s needs. Both are highly effective in addressing spinal instability, degenerative disc disease, and other spinal disorders.

In both cases, after general anaesthesia, patients are kept in the prone position. PLIF surgery involves a wide laminectomy (removal of part of the vertebra) and a bilateral partial facetectomy (partially removes one or both of the facet joints on a set of vertebrae in the spine). TLIF surgery involves complete unilateral facetectomy. The surgeon marks a 3 to 6 inches incision on the lower back. Using special tools, the doctor moves muscles to assess the spine. The doctor removes overgrown bone spurs. These surgeries are safe and highly effective in relieving pressure on the nerves. Most patients can go home 3-5 days after surgery.
