FAQ's

After gathering general information about the patient's health from our cardiologist will review the patient's medical history, and do a complete physical examination. Then the doctor might order the necessary investigations to determine the health of your heart.

Cholesterol, Hypertension, Obesity, Diabetes, Smoking, Family history of heart disease

Mild discomfort or pain in the chest area, it may radiate to the neck, jaw, or arm on the left side of the body and is usually associated with shortness of breath, nausea, and sweating. Diabetics and women may not have chest discomfort but may have only a few of the associated symptoms.

Some illnesses can cause heart disease, but a majority of heart diseases can be prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Yes, a yearly health check-up that includes a blood pressure check, lipid, and cholesterol test and a discussion with your doctor about other risk factors should not be overlooked.

Microdiscectomy is a procedure used to eliminate the disc material that puts pressure on the nerves. The patient is generally discharged the same day or the next morning. The entire procedure is performed under general anaesthesia so that the patient is unconscious and is unable to feel anything. Once the anaesthesia starts acting up, the patient is made to lie on an OT bed facing down. Then, a 1- to 1 1/2-inch incision is made on the skin overlying the affected disc. The surgeon uses a microscope (with lights) to examine the affected area. Assisted by the lighted microscope, the surgeon uses a scissor-like tool to remove all the damaged herniated tissue responsible for putting pressure on the nerve. In a few cases, the surgeon removes a small portion of bone that protects the root nerve. Once the spinal nerve has enough space inside the spinal column, the incision is closed with the sutures.

The coronary arteries supply your heart muscle with blood. The arteries can get blocked with fat cells or a substance called plaque. Over time, plaque can harden or rupture (break open). Hardened plaque narrows the coronary arteries and can block the flow of blood to your heart muscle. This can cause chest pain or discomfort called Angina. If the plaque ruptures, a blood clot can form on its surface. This blood clot blocks blood flow through that artery and may cause a heart attack.

If you already have had a heart attack, it is very important to follow doctors advice to prevent a second heart attack: Make lifestyle changes as directed (healthy diet, physical activity, and avoiding tobacco and alcohol use).Take your medications as directed by the treating doctor. Follow any other treatment recommended by the doctor. By taking these steps, you can prevent or reduce the chance of another heart attack and related complications, such as heart failure. Make sure that you have an emergency action plan in case you have signs of a second heart attack. Talk to your doctor about your plan and inform your family about it. The plan should include: Listing down the signs and symptoms of a heart attack Instructions for the prompt use of aspirin How to access emergency medical services The location of the nearest hospital that offers 24-hour emergency heart care services
